General purpose polystyrene, or simply PS, is a solid polymer that is polymerized by heating the styrene monomer. Generally, general purpose polystyrene is bright, light, transparent and inexpensive etc. Moreover, by mixing rubber into the manufacturing process of polystyrene and modifying it, an opaque polystyrene of impact resistance, or generally known as high impact polystyrene, can be created.
PS is widely used in such sectors as disposable tableware (spoon, knife & fork), food container, toy, stationery, CD box, packaging container, lampshade, daily necessities, shell of electronic products, interior panel of air conditioning room, inner shell of washing machine and food packaging materials etc.
