Basic Properties
It is a colorless, transparent, viscous oily liquid with hygroscopicity and acrid odor. It is non-corrosive and inflammable, with a melting point of -10.45℃ and low toxicity. It is miscible in water, ethanol, ether and MEG etc., but insoluble in benzene, toluene and Carbon tetrachloride.
Main Purposes
It is mainly used as gas dehydrant and arene extraction solvent, also as solvent of cellulose nitrate, resin, grease and printing ink etc., as softener and finishing agent of textile and for extracting coumarone and indene etc. from coal tar.
